EVFC Incident #9 01/23/2014 at 9:49am - 3020 Moss Mill Road for an Activated Fire Alarm

IncidentsStation 160 was dispatched to a commercial property for a activated fire alarm. Engine 16-3 was responding to the scene when police advised to reduce speed, no smoke showing. 1604 arrived on location to find a kerosene heater had set off alarm , No fire was present. 1604 recalled all units (time: 10:04am), no action taken.

EVFC Incident #8 01/22/2014 at 12:47pm - 6912 Railroad Blvd for Mutual Aid for a Structure Fire

IncidentsStation 160 was requested for their tanker to mutual aid to the Township of Hamilton Mizpah section for a structure fire. Upon arrival, Tanker 16-5 stood by at scene awaiting orders from command. Tanker 16-5 resources were not used and was released by fire command.

Christie allows fire sprinkler bill to die

TRENTON - Fire sprinklers will not be required in new homes in New Jersey.

Gov. Chris Christie on Tuesday allowed a bill that made the rule to die.

The measure would have applied to newly constructed homes. It would not have applied to mobile homes or homes not connected to a public water system.

Supporters said it would save lives.

Opponents said the requirement would drive up costs and make it more difficult for residents to build homes.

Jack Donio Jr. was a legend in Hammonton, the kind of man other men told stories about.

They said he could break a stack of four cinder block slabs — with his bare hand. They said he could light a cigar and put it out — not with his hands, with two sledgehammers.
