HAMILTON TWP.--A Hamilton Township family is displaced after their home was destroyed by a fire Thursday night.

Officials say the fire was reported just after 8 p.m. at a home on the 6600 block of Bears Head Road. Crews found fire coming from all of the windows and the second floor. The family dog was in a cage near the garage and removed from the scene as a precaution.

While it only took 15 minutes to get the blaze under control, officials say they remained on scene until just after midnight. No one was home at the time of the fire and officials say it was started by unattended candles. Officials say the house is a total loss.
