Fire Rescue News - Fire forces Atlantic City family from their home

A kitchen fire forced a family of three to leave their Atlantic City home Thursday.

Fire Chief Dennis Brooks said firefighters responded to a two-story single-family home on the 900 block of Magellan Avenue at 6 p.m. The fire started in the kitchen and caused heavy smoke damage throughout the home, he said. Firefighters cleared the scene at about 6:30 p.m., he said.

No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation, he said.

Two adults and one child lived inside the home, which remains uninhabitable.

Fire Rescue News - THREE INJURED IN 3 CAR ACCIDENT IN MULLICA TWP.

MULLICA TWP. -- Three people were injured in a three-car accident Friday afternoon in Mullica Twp.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. on Route 30 and Columbia Rd.

Police say three cars were involved, one of which overturned. A male driver of one of the cars was taken via helicopter to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for serious head injuries.

Two other victims were taken by ambulance to a local hospital for minor injuries.

Traffic was detoured as officials investigated and cleared the scene.

There is no word yet on what caused the accident.

Fire Rescue News - Hamilton Township police investigating eight suspicious fires in Mays Landing

Hamilton Township police are investigating eight suspicious fires near the Brandywood Condominium Complex in Mays Landing.

The fires all occurred in the past several months near the Harding Highway complex, police said, adding that seven of the fires were intentionally set in the wooded area near Hoover Drive while another was set near building 5. The fire closest to the building filled several apartments with smoke, police said.

In total, more than 11 acres of woods was burned in the fires. No injuries were reported.

Fire Rescue News - Fire damages home in Mullica Township

A home on the Mullica River sustained signficant damage in an afternoon fire Sunday.

Members of all four Mullica Township fire companies responded to the fire in the township's Sweetwater section, after a neighbor noticed black smoke billowing from the roof of the building at 1:48 p.m. Fire officials said the blaze did about $75,000 worth of damage, including extensive water damage to the living area.

The home was occupied when the fire started, but no one was injured, fire officials said.

The fire started in the home's attic. Authorities do not consider the blaze suspicious.
