Fire Rescue News - BOAT CATCHES FIRE IN C.M. CANAL, NO ONE INJURED

LOWER TWP.--A boat caught fire Tuesday night sending a thick plume of black smoke into the air.

The call came in around 8:30 p.m. that a boat was on fire in the Cape May Canal. State Police say the boat was recently purchased by an Erma resident and it was the first time he was using it.

Officials say he and 5 others were on it when it began running roughly so they ran the boat aground. Luckily no one was injured. There is no word what sparked the blaze.

EGG HARBOR TWP. -- Egg Harbor Township firefighters responded to a structure fire Tuesday evening in the Scullville section of the township.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. on the 300 block of Boston Avenue.

Firefighters say that upon their arrival, some smoke was showing, but the fire appeared to have started underground, then spread into the home. The blaze was extinguished quickly, and no injuries were reported. The residents of the house were there at the time of the incident, which firefighters say prevented a much bigger disaster. The home suffered interior damage.

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP--An arson investigator has been called to look into a fire that heavily damaged a townhome at the Woodlands Condominium complex.

The fire occurred in the 2500 block of Cottonwood Court at about 4:30 a.m., police said.

Fire Rescue News - FIRE BURNING IN WHARTON STATE FOREST

ATSION--New Jersey's Forest Fire Service is working to contain a fire in the Wharton State Forest in southern New
Jersey's Pinelands region.

Division Warden Bill Edwards said the blaze was expected to spread to about 170 acres before it's contained. No homes are threatened and there have been no reports of injuries. Edwards said the fire was about 25 acres when it was discovered at about 7:30 a.m. Monday. He said firefighters hoped to have it contained by Monday night. Forty-five firefighters are at the scene. The fire site is in southern Burlington County, about 10 miles northeast of Hammonton.
