FDNY Ladder 129 collides with garbage truck in Queens

Fire-Rescue News

Joe Kemp, New York Daily News:

Nine people suffered minor injuries when a Fire Department rig and a garbage truck collided in Queens Monday night, authorities said.

The Ladder 129 truck and the private garbage carter smashed into each other at Northern Blvd. and 150th St. in Flushing about 9:30 p.m., authorities said.

The Secret List:

FDNY Ladder 129 was responding first due to a dwelling fire. While responding, they were involved in a violent crash on Northern Blvd with another vehicle (reported to be a garbage truck) in an intersection. Several members were trapped and had to be extricated. Members received a range of yellow and green injuries-from serious injured (fractures) to not so serious.

We have confirmed that the Officer and Chauffeur (driver) of the apparatus were wearing their seat belts and the wearing of those seat belts, by all indications (see photos of the crash on our home page) probably saved their lives-as they were the most seriously injured.
