Explosion starts fire in Galloway Township home

Fire-Rescue News NBC40.net

GALLOWAY TWP. -- A family is forced to leave their home after an explosion sets fire to their house.

It happened around 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Those inside the house when the explosion happened say it felt like an earthquake.

Five family members were inside the house. None were seriously injured but one eight-week-old was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The house sustained serious structural damage, windows on one side of the house were blown out, and the family won't be able to return until the house undergoes serious renovations.

Officials aren't certain what caused the explosion, but say that it was centered in the basement, and could possibly have come from the heater.
