All Mullica Twp Firemen were called to 2600 6th Ave for a Chimney Fire. Engine 16-3 and Tanker 16-5 along with Rescue 16-4 responded. All Elwood units were recall by Sweetwater Command at 9:28pm.

 Hammonton  - An electrical fire forced the evacuation of St. Joseph's High School at about 12:40 Wednesday afternoon, Principal Lynn Domenico said.

A motor in the heating system caught fire in the basement, Assistant Fire Chief Dennis Lasassa said, and smoke filled two classrooms.

There were no injuries or serious damage. School will be open today, Domenico said.

The building was hosting a day for 139 prospective students. School staff and more than 100 current students were also in the building, most of them in a sports assembly in the gym when it was time to evacuate.

The power went out 20 minutes before the alarm, Domenico said, but it has been restored.

By BEN MERITT Staff Writer A report detailing the costs of a centralized emergency dispatch system for Atlantic County's 23 municipalities is due soon, county officials said. The county sent surveys to all municipalities asking for financial data and call volume, said Vince Jones, Atlantic County's director of emergency management.
