Fire-Rescue News-Police investigate fire in abandoned Mays Landing house

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP — Police are investigating a fire that destroyed an abandoned house in the township’s Mizpah section.

Police, fire and emergency personnel responded about 3:45 p.m. Saturday to 3rd Avenue in Mizpah, Hamilton Township Police reports said.

It took two hours for firefighters to put out the blaze, causing a traffic detour at that time, police reports said.

Fire companies from Laureldale, Dorothy, Richland, Mays Landing and Mizpah responded, along with police, the state Forest Fire Service and Hamilton Township Rescue Squad.

Police have asked that anyone with information contact Detective Larry Fernan or Officer Don Bucci at 609-625-2700.

MULLICA TOWNSHIP -- Police and fire officials are investigating a fire in Mullica Township late Sunday night.

It happened on the 1200 block of Elwood Road just before 11:00 p.m.

Multiple fire crews responded to the scene, and the fire was quickly extinguished.

As of early Monday morning, there has been no confirmation from police or fire officials on any injuries reported or if the family was home at the time of the fire.

Upon arrival found fire in upstairs C&D corner, fire was kept to room of origin, put fire out vented, checked for extension and overhauled. Fire was investigated by Twp fire investigator.

MIZPAH-- Fire crews are on the scene of a structure fire on 3rd avenue in Mizpah.

The fire broke out in an abandoned house near Mizpah Road and 3rd Avenue around 4 this afternoon. Crews from Atlantic County and Gloucester County responded to the scene.

Fire fighters had to cut through over-grown shrubbery to access the burning house.

The house has been burned almost completely to the ground.
