Fire Rescue News- CONTROLLED BURN IN HAMMONTON COULD LAST FOR WEEKS

HAMMONTON -- The New Jersey Forest Fire Service conducted a controlled burn Monday in Hammonton.

Officials say they are burning 300 acres to eliminate fuels on the forest floor that could start a wildfire. They say the process is one hundred percent safe and they take every precaution necessary to keep residents from danger.

The process could take a few weeks depending on weather conditions.

Hammonton businessman Sam Siligato admitted in Camden County Superior Court on Monday that he conspired to set fire to a Camden County dwelling in 2005.

Fire Rescue News- HAMMONTON BLAZE DESTROYS HOUSE GARAGE

HAMMONTON -- A garage is completely destroyed following a fire in Hammonton Thursday night.

Fire crews responded to the blaze just after 5 o'clock on the 400 block of Boyer Avenue.

Police say a resident was working on his car inside the garage when the flames broke out.

The resident was able to escape and fire officials contained the blaze rather quickly.

Authorities say the garage was a total loss but fortunately, the house did not suffer any damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Fire Rescue News- SIX PEOPLE DISPLACED AFTER GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP APARTMENT FIRE

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP -- Six people are displaced after an early morning fire at an apartment complex in Galloway Township.

The fire broke out just before 3:30 Thursday morning at an apartment unit on Colonial Court.

Firefighters say the blaze started in a bedroom on the second floor, but did not spread to other units.

No injuries were reported from the incident.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze quickly, although one unit sustained heavy smoke damage.

Some residents were allowed to return to their homes shortly after being evacuated.
