Vidoe: Firefighters Rescue Man From House Fire

The San Bernardino City Fire Department responds to a structure fire with a victim trapped. This is a first hand look at how the engine company made the rescue. The footage was taken from both the engine captain's helmet camera as well as a local news reporter.  Sadly the victim did not survive, but this video shows a rapid search and rescue with immediate start of CPR and quick transport to higher level of care. The firefighters did a good job, but the family has had a tragic outcome.

PLEASANTVILLE — Charles Lassiter knew his mother was tough, but he did not realize how tough until he was stricken with the same disease that killed her.

Now, the 43-year-old Pleasantville firefighter and father of three daughters is fighting for his own life — against Stage 5 polycystic kidney disease — but it is a fight he is not taking on alone.

Days of strong winds and low humidity coupled with a dry winter and early spring have created dangerous fire conditions across much of the state.

Authorities said a brush fire in a wooded area north of Barnegat Boulevard and west of Route 9 is 100 percent contained.

Fire Rescue News- GALLOWAY TWP. HOME DESTROYED IN EARLY MORNING FIRE

GALLOWAY TWP. -- Firefighters battled a large fire that broke out early Tuesday morning at a home in Galloway Township.

Multiple fire departments worked to contain the blaze that broke out just after 4:00 a.m. Tuesday on Odessa Avenue just off Duerer Street, in the Pomona section of the township.

An NBC 40 reporter on the scene says that the two-story home is completely destroyed, and that wires are down in the area.

Red Cross officials are also assisting on the scene, although no injuries have been reported at this time.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
