Attic fire extinguished at Weymouth Twp. home

Fire-Rescue NewsWEYMOUTH TWP. -- Firefighters put out an attic fire Friday before it could spread to the rest of the house. The fire stated Friday evening on Pennsylvania Avenue in the Dorothy section of the township, when an attic ceiling fan overheated, igniting nearby insulation. Firefighters entered the attic through a closet crawlspace and using pressurized water-cans, extinguished the fire. After checking for any left-over hot spots, the scene was cleared. The chief of Dorothy's volunteer fire company said he expects to the family to return to the house later on Friday.

Three Injured in Boat Fire

Fire-Rescue NewsThree people were injured Sunday when their boat caught fire at All Seasons Marina in the Marmora section of Upper Township. Firefighters and EMS teams were sent to the marina around 11:20 this morning. The 24 foot boat was tied to a fuel dock when it caught fire. The lines securing it to the dock burnt through and the boat had begun to drift towards other vessels when a tow boat managed to lasso it and pull it towards fire fighters. Six people were on the boat when it caught fire, three without injury. The other three people were taken to Shore Medical Center for minor injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation by New Jersey State Marine Police.
