ATLANTIC CITY - An early morning porch fire, which displaced the family of five from the residence, is under investigation. Light was reported at about 3:30 a.m. on Maxwell Avenue, an area where homes are very close to each other, said Fire Chief Dennis Brooks. Atlantic City Electric was called to shut down power to the home. An arson investigator was also called to the scene, Brooks said.

Per 1600 on location, owner was sanding and failed to cover smoke detectors causing a false alarm. All units were recalled.

On arrival, checked area with tripped alarm. Found bad detector. All units were clear at 8:37am.
