EVFC Incident #68 08/18/2015 at 6:19am - 317 Weymouth Elwood Rd for an Activated Fire Alarm

IncidentsReceived a call for an activated fire alarm at the Homestead. A faulty detector caused the alarm to activate. 1600A cleared the alarm and cleared the scene at 6:31am.

IncidentsOn arrival 1600A found water was off to the water heater and it was over heating. Shut off gas to water heater and made it safe. Advised owner not to run water heater with outwater to it. All station 160 units were clear at 12:20pm

Fire destroys Hammonton home

A fire quickly engulfed and burned through a Hammonton home on First Avenue Friday afternoon.

 

There was no immediate word on the cause or injuries.

Five companies, Hammonton, Elwood, Collings Lake, Nesco, Egg Harbor City and Newtonville responded.

The fire was brought under control after 7 p.m.

Estell Manor fire company must accept new members, judge rules

It may be a small organization, but you’d never know it by the size of the Estell Manor Volunteer Fire Company’s legal issues.

On Wednesday, Superior Court Judge Julio Mendez heard from three lawyers representing various factions in a dispute over how the 10-member company is run, and whether it has welcomed new members or properly allowed members to vote.

Mendez will set a date for a special membership meeting within the next two weeks or so, he said, during which anyone interested in joining would be immediately accepted. He also asked the parties to work toward.....Continue Reading
