A Wildwood Boardwalk shop that sells fried cookie dough and funnel cake sustained nearly $20,000 damage in a fire reported at 11:51 p.m. on Tuesday, the city fire department said.

Firefighters responded to the 4004 Boardwalk store, which was closed at the time, and found smoke and fire rising up an interior wall, the department reported.

The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported.

An accidental electrical problem was deemed the cause by the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office and Wildwood fire officials, the city department said.

Fire crews were on the scene for about an hour and a half.

Along with Wildwood, fire crews from North Wildwood and Rio Grande, Middle Township assisted at the scene; Wildwood Crest and Middle Township EMS covered the city during that time, Wildwood fire officials said.

The shop has a sign above the entrance reading “Yummy Treats.”

It sells fried Oreos, fresh lemonade and cotton candy.
