Avalon firefighters battle blaze in extreme cold, high winds

A fire broke out in an Avalon home under construction late Thursday night and spread to an adjoining home on Fifth Avenue before firefighters brought it under control early this morning, Avalon officials said.

Both homes were unoccupied and there were no injuries. The fire started at a home at 4718 Fifth Ave.

This morning gigantic icicles hung from the two destroyed buildings, revealing an eerie snow-globe-like scene in the charred wreckage.

EVFC Incident #9 02/12/2015 at 9:36pm - 5916 Duerer St for a Chimney Fire

IncidentsEgg Harbor City's Engine was first engine on scene. Removed fire from fireplace. Removed cap from chimney and used brushes in chimney. Used thermal imaging camera to check for any possible extension. Nesco, Sweetwater, and Weekstown were recalled.

Burning fuel from vehicle fire threatens fire truck

Fuel rolled toward the fire truck at least twice. The second time the rig was out of water and waiting for a supply line.

EVFC Incident #7 02/02/2015 at 3:39pm - 3750 White Horse Pike for a Nat Gas Leak (outside)

IncidentsCalled in by South Jersey Gas. Found small leak just above high pressure stop collar - Shut off gas at high pressure stop. South Jersey Gas was already en-route. Checked service with gas detector- no gas read or gas odor after shutting off stop. All station 160 units were clear at 3:56pm
