Fire Rescue News- DRIVER LEAVES SCENE AFTER CAR CRASHES, CATCHES ON FIRE

EGG HARBOR CITY-- Police are searching for the driver who abandoned their vehicle after it hit a tree and caught on fire Saturday night.

Egg Harbor City Police responded to a car fire call around 8 p.m. on Clarks Landing Road. Police say the car veered off the road for unknown reasons and hit a tree.

When they arrived, police found the vehicle on fire, but the driver could not be located. The fire department was called in to extinguish the blaze.

Police are still searching for the driver of the car.

Fire Rescue News- CREWS INVESTIGATE HOUSE FIRE IN VINELAND

VINELAND-- Police are still investigating a fire that broke out on the unit block of Deshibe Terrance on Saturday night.

Fire crews were able to contain the blaze quickly, and little visible damage was done to the front of the house.

Police say they believe everyone made it out of the home safely, but were unable to confirm that at this time.

The fire is still being investigated.

MULLICA TOWNSHIP — As family and friends wiped away tears Tuesday night outside the Mullica Township School, they prayed that Judy and Joe Calderone would recover from injuries they sustained in a car crash.

“It’s important for us to be here,” Justin LaBor, of Mullica Township, said before the vigil began. “They’ve always been behind us.”

Fire Rescue News- Woman, 76, killed in two-car crash on White Horse Pike in Hammonton

 A two-vehicle crash killed a 76-year-old woman and critically injured two men Saturday afternoon, Hammonton police said in a release.

Damion Moore, 34, of Philadelphia, was driving west on the White Horse Pike when he attempted to make a left turn onto Egg Harbor Road, police said. At 1:11 p.m. he instead collided head-on with Joackim Mechikas, 83, of Warminster, Pa., who was driving east on the White Horse Pike.

Mechikas and Moore were extracted from their vehicles and flown to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, and were in critical condition, police said.

Moore’s passenger, Elizabeth A. Stults, of Riverside, was transported to AtlantiCare’s Mainland Campus, where she was pronounced dead.

The Hammonton Police, Hammonton Volunteer Fire Department, and AtlantiCare EMS responded to the scene.

Hammonton Patrolman Jason Rigby is investigating further.
