Hamilton Township officials believe a hot exhaust from a pickup truck caused a fire in a barn Friday afternoon.

A barn in the Weymouth section of the township was on fire at about 2 p.m. but the blaze was put out before serious damage occurred, police said in a release. The township's Police Department responded along with the state Forest Fire Service, Hamilton Rescue Squad and the Weymouth, Mizpah and Mays Landing fire companies.

No injuries were reported on the scene.

Police believe the fire was caused by the hot exhaust from a pickup truck that delivered and unloaded 10 bales of hay, police said.
