Fire Rescue News- Community College in Mays Landing cause minor damage

Fire-Rescue News

AC Press

Posted: Wednesday, November 7, 2012 8:23 am

Electrical fires this morning caused minor damage to two buildings at Atlantic Cape Community College in Mays Landing, police said in a news release.

About 5:15 a.m., multiple fire departments responded to building Q and the school’s gymnasium for a report of a structure fire.

Firefighters found the fire originated in building Q at the electrical panel. But a power surge then ignited the electrical panel in the adjacent building.

Minor fire damage was reported in both buildings and the cause of the fire is under investigation Fire Inspector Frank Primavera. The cause does not appear to be suspicious.

Hamilton Township Police Department and Mays Landing, Cologne, Laureldale and South Egg Harbor Fire Departments responded.

No news has been released on any impacts to classes at the school today
