In a 280 square mile area of Josephine County, Oregon we have no public fire district, so because of this we have 3 private fire departments who compete for contracts. This video shows one of them in action, the Grants Pass Rural Fire Department (not to be confused with the City Of Grants Pass Fire Department). Many people in this area consider this "so-called" fire department the worst of the worst. The county commissioners have tried repeatedly on closing them down and the County Sheriff will NOT let them run Code 3 for calls. Fire Rescue News- North Wildwood firefighters tackle boat fire

NORTH WILDWOOD - Local departments were called out this afternoon to extinguish a boat fire, North Wildwood Fire Chief Jeff Cole said Sunday. Cole said the boat was in the water across from the 10th Avenue marina when the fire began. City fire crews, along with West Wildwood firefighters, used their fire boats to extinguish the blaze. Posted: Friday, June 8, 2012 4:51 pm | Updated: 5:23 pm, Fri Jun 8, 2012. Hamilton Township officials believe a hot exhaust from a pickup truck caused a fire in a barn Friday afternoon. A barn in the Weymouth section of the township was on fire at about 2 p.m. but the blaze was put out before serious damage occurred, police said in a release. The township's Police Department responded along with the state Forest Fire Service, Hamilton Rescue Squad and the Weymouth, Mizpah and Mays Landing fire companies. No injuries were reported on the scene.
