Two families were displaced after a house fire on the 700 block of Fishers Creek Road in the Smithville section of Galloway Township. Fire crews arrived at the house at about 4:55 p.m., found heavy smoke and called for backup. At the fire's peak, about 25 firefighters were on the scene and five companies responded, Galloway Township fire Chief Ron Garbutt Jr. said. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for treatment of a heat-related injury. Investigators said the fire started in the heater room of the first-floor condo, and the cause is under investigation.
