Fire Rescue News - Car Fire Knocked Down Quickly in Rio Shop Rite Parking Lot

RIO GRANDE - A car fire ignited in the Shop Rite parking lot here around noon on Tues. July 27.

Middle Township Police, Rio Grande Fire Company and Middle Township Ambulance service responded to the scene.

The fire was knocked out within 10 minutes of the initial call.

Further information will be posted if it becomes available.

BASS RIVER TOWNSHIP - Fire officials are hopeful that a forest fire in a cedar swamp will be contained today.

The fire spread to about 400 acres by 9:15 p.m. Monday night, state Division Fire Warden Bert Plante said, and spread to about 670 acres by Tuesday morning. Smoke from that fire is visible for miles.

The body has been painted. The body is now having the tread plating, compartment lighting, shelf tracks, electrical harnessing, etc. added.  The pump house has been painted and is in the paint oven so it was not available for picture taking this afternoon. The chassis has arrived and is staged to enter the Chassis Assembly line early next week. The planned Ready for Pick-up (RFP) date is 8/10/10. The next report will be sent next Friday 7/30/10.

MVA in Hammonton with Three Airlifted

HAMMONTON — Police responded to a two-car accident late Saturday night, reportedly at 11th Street and South Chew Road.

Police were too busy to talk at about 10:30 p.m., but a member of the local rescue squad said plans were made for a helicopter medevac operation using a nearby cemetary to land.

The accident was about a half-mile from the center of town.

No other details were available.

EVFC Reports

A motor vehicle accident was reported at 11th & Chew Rd about 9:55pm on Saturday night. Four ambulances and three helicopters were called. Ambulances were called from Hammomton, Winslow, Collings Lakes. Three Medic units were called in as well as Hammonton Fire Company to set up three landing zones at the cemetary on South Chew Rd.
