IncidentsCalled for the report of smoke in the area. Car 1600, Tanker 16-5 and Engine 16-3 staged at Weekstown rd & 7th ave. Cleared by Weekstown command at 2:08pm.

Fire in Galloway complex kills 3 pets and destroys two apartments

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — Three pets died in a fire that left two apartments uninhabitable Friday afternoon, police said.

Galloway Township police were the first on scene to a fire in the Ryan’s Ridge development on Second Avenue around 4:30 p.m. and evacuated the complex.

 

Firefighters from Galloway’s volunteer companies Bayview, Pomona and Oceanville also responded and were able to bring the fire under control under the direction of Galloway Township Fire Chief Richard Smith. Two of the residences are no longer inhabitable, according to police. A third unit sustained minor damage.

The fire is under investigation by Investigator Scott Feldman of the Galloway Township Fire Department, and Detective Lt. Joseph Picardi and Officer John Mooney of the Galloway Township Police Department Fire Investigation Unit.

 

Also responding to the scene were the Galloway Township Ambulance Squad, Galloway Township Emergency Management, Galloway Township Code Enforcement, American Red Cross and Atlantic City Electric.

EVFC Incident #67 06/08/2018 at 9:23pm - 534 Wharton Park Blvd for an Oven Fire

IncidentsCalled for an oven fire. Found owner had oven on self-clean and there was a small fire in the oven. Fire was out on arrival. Checked for extension, none found. Advised owner to have oven inspected before using again. All units cleared at 9:45pm

EVFC Incident #65 06/03/2018 at 4:36pm - 305 Elwood Weymouth Rd for Wires Down

IncidentsCalled for a downed wire. Chief arrived and found a communications wire hanging very low across the roadway. Closed road with cones and signs. Dispatch notified Comcast.

EVFC Incident #64 05/23/2018 at 5:15pm - 4320 Pleasant Mills Rd in Sweetwater for a structure fire

IncidentsCalled for a structure fire in Sweetwater. Tanker 16-5 arrived on scene at 5:28pm, Sweetwater's Engine 16-31 was already on scene. Tanker 16-5 supplied water to fire scene. Rescue 16-2 setup a fill site on the bridge. Engine 16-3 and Utility 16-4 provided manpower to help extinguish fire. All Station 160 units cleared at 8:40pm
