One dead in Northfield fire
NORTHFIELD - A woman is dead after a house fire that collapsed the roof of a one-story rancher on Bay Drive on Saturday. Officials have not identified the victim. City tax records show the home is owned by William and Roseann Eisenhardt. Mayor Erland Chau confirmed the woman's death and said the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is handling the investigation because it was a fatality. Northfield house fire possibly fatal
NORTHFIELD - Firefighters from throughout the region battled a blaze Saturday afternoon that collapsed the roof of a one-story rancher on Bay Drive and may have killed someone. Initial reports said a victim was inside the home at 2200 Bay Drive, which city tax records show is owned by William and Roseann Eisenhardt. Fire Chief Bruce Cummings said the blaze does not appear suspicious but directed all other questions to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. A Prosecutor's Office spokesman has not responded to a call for comment.
Fire engulfs Northfield home
NORTHFIELD — Fire departments from throughout the area are responding to a structure fire on Bay Drive, according to reports. Initial reports at 3 p.m. Saturday included a victim inside the residence. The report noted the roof was about to collapse. Bay Drive is closed.
Condemned Ocean City firehouse to be demolished and replaced
OCEAN CITY — The city has allotted another $450,000 toward a new 29th Street firehouse that could be open by next summer. At its meeting Thursday, City Council approved the additional money for building a new $2.1 million two-story facility. Frank Donato, the city’s director of finance, said he hopes to have the 29th Street firehouse, which was condemned in April, demolished by Labor Day. Construction is to begin in September, and he said the city hopes to open the firehouse “by the beginning of next summer.” In the meantime, the fire company will be temporarily moved to Ocean City Municipal Airport. Woman dies in house blaze in Salem County
SALEM COUNTY, N.J. (WPVI) --
A woman is dead after flames erupted inside a home in Salem County, New Jersey.The two alarm fire started around 3 a.m. Saturday on North 7th and Gibbon streets. Authorities say the woman became trapped inside. Firefighters discovered the woman as they made their way through the flames. The victim's son managed to make it out of the house safely. Officials say the victims are relatives of a Wilmington firefighter. No word on what caused the blaze. |
