UPPER TWP.--Investigators are still trying to determine what sparked a stubborn house fire in Upper Township Friday afternoon.

Several volunteer fire companies responded to the 300 block of Route 610, in the Petersburg section of Upper Township, around 3:30p.m., after dense smoke was seen coming from the dwelling.

Fire officials at the scene reported that no one was injured in the blaze, although the house sustained substantial smoke and
water damage.

As of late Friday night, officials were still on the scene investigating the blaze.

VENTNOR - Water is usually one of a firefighter's best friends, but water turned on the city Fire Department on Friday.

Firefighters battling blaze in Ventnor Heights

Fire officials in the Ventnor Heights section of Ventnor are fighting a building fire this morning.
 
The blaze began after 8 a.m. in the 5400 block of Edgewater Avenue, near North Surrey Avenue. The building is located a few blocks from the Dorsett Avenue bridge, which is closed this morning due to flooding.
 
There is no word on any injuries.

ONE MAN KILLED IN MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT IN PORT REPUBLIC

PORT REPUBLIC--One person was killed in a motorcycle accident along Route 9 in Port Republic Wednesday night.

Police say shortly after 7p.m., 24-year-old David Keasler of Bass River was traveling northbound on his motorcycle when he left the roadway for an unknown reason near milepost 52.

Keasler was ejected from his motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Police are still investigating that accident.
