ATLANTIC CITY-- Fire crews battled a vicious two-alarm fire this morning, which sent one firefighter to the hospital.

The Atlantic City Fire Department responded to the 1000 Block of Baltic Ave. just before 11 a.m. The aggressive blaze consumed the exteriors of two separate buildings. Each fire burned the rears of two stories of those buildings. Fire officials said it took around 15 minutes to get the fire under control.

One firefighter was sent to the hospital, but is said to be in stable condition.

The fire is still under investigation.

PLEASANTVILLE — Firefighters contained an attic fire Sunday on Decatur Avenue, avoiding injuries or significant damage to the home.

The blaze began at about 5:25 p.m. and lasted about 16 minutes before nine responding firefighters controlled the flames inside the one-story building at 61 E. Decatur Ave., authorities said.

Acting Battalion Chief Stephen Wilkins said officials determined the fire was electrical in nature and was clearly accidental. The house was only damaged by smoke and water damage. No one was injured. Two engines and one ladder truck responded to the incident.

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP - A Vineland resident was only slightly injured when she flipped her SUV Thursday afternoon on the Black Horse Pike.

Trisha L. Walk-Pratts was headed east on Route 322 near Atlantic Cape Community College at about 1:50 p.m., police said, when she lost control of her vehicle, hit the median and flipped over. The vehicle came to rest in the right eastbound lane.

The Hamilton Township Rescue Squad and Mays Landing Fire Department extracted Walk-Pratts from the vehicle, and the rescue squad drove her to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Campus.

Walk-Pratts, who police said suffered minor injuries, said she had been wearing her seatbelt during the accident.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - Township fire officials closed a portion of Fire Road near the Atlantic City Electric distribution center after lightning struck a utility pole Thursday evening.

Fire crews had the contacted the utility for additional repair work around 7 p.m.

The road remains closed near the intersection of Fire and Delilah and 200 utility customers in the area were without power.
