He retired in 1992 as a postal clerk at the Hammonton Post Office. He also was a fitter at Crown Pants Shop, Hammonton. Mr. Berenato served his country honorably as a Korean war Veteran, U.S. Army rank of SFC (T) in the 45th Combat Infantry Div. and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service, also a combat infantry Badge, The Korean Service Medal, The United Nations Medal and the New Jersey War Veteran Service Medal. Mr. Berenato was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1026, Hammonton.

He was a member of the Hammonton Vol. Fire Co. #1 since 1947 and was past lieutenant, Captain, and President., a Life Member of the New Jersey State Firemens Assoc., a N.J. State Exempt Fireman, also a member, past Vice President and President of the Hammonton Firemens Relief Assoc, The Atlantic County Firemens Assoc.

Predeceased by wife Millie (nee Aquino), his parents Frank and Nellie Berenato, sister, Marie Perna and brother Angelo. Surviving are a daughter, Janet Berenato Perini, Marlton, son Peter A. Jr. (Nancy), two sisters, Anna Turco and Lena Tribuiani of Phila, PA., also three grandchildren, Peter A III, Alyssa and Jenna Perini.
