A home on the Mullica River sustained signficant damage in an afternoon fire Sunday.

Members of all four Mullica Township fire companies responded to the fire in the township's Sweetwater section, after a neighbor noticed black smoke billowing from the roof of the building at 1:48 p.m. Fire officials said the blaze did about $75,000 worth of damage, including extensive water damage to the living area.

The home was occupied when the fire started, but no one was injured, fire officials said.

The fire started in the home's attic. Authorities do not consider the blaze suspicious.
