MAYS LANDING -- Folsom Borough and fire officials met in court Thursday afternoon after the department was abruptly shut down last week. The hearing was held to address the borough's order to keep the department from selling or removing any of its equipment or property.

A judge issued modest restraints in the case, saying the fire trucks are the property of the borough. The fire company cannot transfer their real estate or any of their equipment without approval, but the department's lawyer said the company has no intention to do so.

The court battle comes after city council voted to enter into a shared services agreement with the nearby Collings Lakes Fire Department.

Another hearing between the two parties is scheduled for March 1st at 3 p.m.

OCEAN CITY - A fire that sparked in a three story rooming home, could have been a lot worse, had it not been for the quick actions of firefighters called to the scene.

The fire broke out, just before 9 o'clock Monday evening on the 600 block of Wesley Avenue in Ocean City.

Officials say the blaze was confined to one room on the second floor and was quickly contained.

The surrounding units only suffered smoke damage.

Only the residents of the damaged unit have been displaced.

Fire fighters say preliminary reports indicate Christmas lights may have sparked the blaze, although they are continuing their investigation.
