4 women hurt in Atlantic County, NJ crash; 1 trapped

Emergency crews are still working to free one of four women hurt in a crash in Buena Vista Township, N.J.

 It happened at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday near Route 54 and Jackson Road.

Police say it appears one vehicle crossed the center line and collided with another.

Police tell Action News three women were in the first vehicle and that all suffered injuries.

Two of the women have been airlifted to area hospitals. The driver is still trapped in the vehicle.

Police say rescuers have been trying to free her for more than an hour.

The woman is reportedly alert and conscious, but medics are becoming increasingly concerned about her condition.

Authorities say the female driver of other vehicle was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Hammonton Fireman Thomas Elvins involved in MVA

Our prayers go out to one of our senior members Thomas Elvins and his wife Dottie. They were involved in a severe motor vehicle accident in Egg Harbor twp. on friday afternoon. They are currently in the trama unit in atlantic care city division.

HAMILTON TWP. -- Emergency crews remain on the scene of a forest fire that appears to be suspicious in nature but is now 100% contained.

It was a sight that many local residents have never seen before, trees burning away right in their own backyard.

Apparent gas explosion in home in South Egg Harbor section of Galloway Township

GALLOWAY TWP. -- Officials are investigating a gas explosion on the 1300 block of North Street in the South Egg Harbor section of Galloway Twp.

Fire officials on scene say that there was a gas leak and the explosion may have occurred when a water heater turned on. The blast was powerful enough to lift the house off of its foundation. Four occupants inside the home escaped uninjured.

Neighboring homes have been evacuated.

The investigation will continue to find the exact cause of the blast, but officials believe that the house will have to be demolished.

Fire Rescue News- Forest Fire burning near Makepeace Lake in Hamilton Township

HAMILTON TWP. -- Emergency crews are currently battling a forest fire in the area of 8th Street and Route 322 on the west end border of Hamilton Township.

Officials say the fire has currently engulfed 120 acres of land, with none of the fire in containment as of 11 a.m. There are currently seven brush trucks and more than 25 firefighters working to battle the blaze.

Believe the fire began between 6 p.m. and midnight Wednesday and believe someone dumped debris and lit it on fire.

Large amounts of smoke and ash will be visible in the area. Residents and motorists are urged to use caution in the area. Forest Fire personnel are on location.
