Call Recording

This is a VOX recording. It is condensed and not in real time.
A family is now without a home after a fire, that was reportedly caused by an outside grill which severely damaged the Mays Landing residence Sunday morning.
After authorities responded to the fire at 36 Chancellor Park around 4:30 a.m, the homeowner, Jeffery Perkin, his wife, and four children had already evacuated the house. Two minor injuries were reported at the scene and treated by Hamilton Township Rescue Squad. Although authorities controlled the fire within 30 minutes, the home sustained extensive fire and water damage and homes on either side of the fire also sustained moderate exterior damage. The homeowners are staying with family in the area.

Its 6pm just getting home from work
I'm ready to eat supper and spend time with my family.
When out of nowhere I hear that dreadful sound of
the pager beeping and the siren howl.
Someones house is on fire and they cant get out.
I run to the door leaving my family behind
while they all pray "Lord please bring him home safe this time".
The red lights flash, the siren wails
while we drive there I pray that we don't fail.
We arrive on scene and what do I see?
Smoke is showing and the girl on the second floor needs me,
we grab the irons and run to the door
put on our masks and head to the second floor.
We search every room in the last one she's found
laying on the floor, not making a sound.
I grab the girl and run to the door
but the fire got bigger and we're trapped on this floor.
I'm running out of air and my fellow brother is too so
I reach for my radio and say what no one should have to.
Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!
The RIT team goes in
to save us from that fateful end.
They make it to us, through the wall they appear,
they shout "come through there's a window in here".
I grab the lifeless girl and push her through
we go down the ladder, then to the EMS crew.
I give them the girl laying still as can be
I hope that we saved her as does her family.
We put out the fire, back to the station we go
only to learn what we didn't want to know.
The girl didn't make it so now I pray
that God takes her in and allows her to stay.
Back home I go as the clock strikes midnight
I sneak into the bedrooms to kiss the kids goodnight.
Then as I lay down next to my wife in bed, again the pager sounds,
a rollover accident with entrapment, so I head down.
Its now 4am and I go to work at 7,
no sleep for me, can I make it through the day is the question?
People ask me why I do it if I don't get paid?
Pride, honor, and the brotherhood is how my pay is made.
I'm a volunteer firefighter, its what I do
to help people in need, even you
