Firefighter injured battling Hammonton fire
HAMMONTON, N.J. (WPVI) --
Authorities say a firefighter was injured while battling a fire in Hammonton, New Jersey.The fire broke out just before 7 p.m. Wednesday on the 200 block of Union Road. The fire grew to two alarms before it was brought under control. The Red Cross is now helping a family of five displaced by the flames. The condition of the firefighter has not been released.
Dog rescued from icy pond in Mullica Township
MULLICA TWP., N.J. (WPVI) --
Rescue crews pulled a dog to safety from an icy pond in South Jersey.Quincy the German shepherd fell through the ice along the 4100 block of Jackson Road in Mullica Township on Wednesday. Cold water units from Mullica Township and Sweetwater fire departments sent a boat out on the frozen water. Quincy was able to walk away unharmed.
Buena Vista Township man dies in Mullica River crash
From the Press of Atlantic City on-line MULLICA TOWNSHIP — A Buena Vista Township man was found dead Monday morning after his car crashed into the Mullica River, police said. The man was identified as Robert Ramos, 31, of the Newtonville section of Buena Vista, Mullica police Chief John Thompson said. Police, firefighters and AtlantiCare EMS were dispatched to the 4500 block of Pleasant Mills Road in the Sweetwater section at 7:08 a.m. for a report of a car in the river, police said.

Five South Jersey fire companies receive federal grants
The Atlantic City Fire Department and four volunteer fire companies in South Jersey have received more than $1.2 million in federal funding through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program, U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo announced Wednesday. The grants will be used “to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training and other resources required to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards,” according to a news release from LoBiondo’s office. Atlantic City will receive $611,364, its seventh AFG award. |
