EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - A Somers Point man is in the hospital recovering after a one-car accident in West Atlantic City over the weekend.
Rodney J. Storck, 37, was driving west on the Black Horse Pike at 7:12 p.m. when his car veered left into the eastbound lane, Sgt. Charles Super said Tuesday. The car hit and drove over a curb, struck a street sign on Frankfort Court, drove on the sidewalk through a large private home hedge and finally stopped after hitting a tree and a small wooden shed, Super said.
Firefighters from the West Atlantic City and Farmington volunteer fire companies responded to the accident, and Storck was extricated from his car. Super said Storck, who had severe injuries, was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus in Atlantic City.
Storck was in good condition Tuesday, according to Jenna Dearth, an AtlantiCare spokeswoman.
Super said Storck was issued a summons for driving while intoxicated.
