Mullica Couple Sentenced for Growing Pot in Home

Mays Landing  - The Unkerts weren't growing Jersey tomatoes.

Warren and Karen Unkert pleaded guilty in September to growing marijuana in their Mullica Township home.

When State Police searched the couple's property on Spruce Street on Jan. 31, 2007, they found a large building separate from their home where about 46 pot plants were growing in two rooms on the second floor.....Continue Reading

Flat Tire Leads to Burglary Arrest

Mullica Township - A central New Jersey couple were charged various counts of burglary, theft and conspiracy after their getaway car got a flat tire, police said.

Mullica to Sell Ambulances - Rescue Squad or no Squad

  MULLICA TOWNSHIP - The township will sell off the ambulances its defunct Emergency Medical Services squad used, potentially thwarting the squad's recent attempts to reunite.

HAMMONTON - The era of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Satellite Emergency Department, Kessler Campus, has begun.

AtlantiCare took over Kessler Memorial Hospital's emergency department at 7:05 p.m. Thursday - five minutes after the 45-year-old facility closed its doors.

HAMMONTON — Kessler Memorial Hospital closed Thursday — just days after it appeared to have a buyer.

The hospital’s board of directors terminated the agreement signed Friday for cardiovascular surgeon B. Reddy Dandolu to buy the hospital, Interim Chief Restructuring Officer Michael Sandnes said in a statement released by the hospital......Continue Reading

Two Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide at Vet Clinic in Mays Landing

Investigators at the scene of the murder-suicide on Route 40 and Central Avenue in Mays Landing.

4:48 p.m. Update - with video / MAYS LANDING - The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is investigating two deaths at the All Paws Veterinary Clinic.

Ronald Clemente, 51, apparently shot his wife with a semi-automatic handgun and then killed himself with the same weapon, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel. The killings occurred at the clinic at Route 40 and Central Avenue in Hamilton Township at around 10 a.m. today....Continue Reading
