A late-night fire damaged an Atlantic City home.

The fire started late Thursday night or early Friday morning, inside a home in the unit block of South Elberon Avenue, near Ventnor Avenue in the city's Chelsea Heights section.

Lightning from a series of brief, intense storms that swept through the region Thursday afternoon set fire to a telephone pole in Egg Harbor Township and exploded part of a chimney in Ventnor, but otherwise left little damage, police from across the region said.

MARGATE -- Firefighters battled a fast moving blaze that broke out in a two story home Wednesday evening.

It was first reported shortly before 9:00pm on the unit block of West Gilmar Circle. Officials say it started in the heater room and quickly spread to the second floor. Crews from Longport and Ventnor were called in as backup.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported but it's believed there was extensive damage to the interior of the home.

BASS RIVER TOWNSHIP — The wildfire that forced the evacuation of Bass River State Park on Monday is about 80 percent contained Wednesday, fire officials said.

Assistant Division Fire Warden Steve Holmes said the wildfire, which was first reported Monday afternoon, scorched 677 acres in 24 hours.

Fire Rescue News -MVA on the AC Expressway overturned w/entrapment

The Hammonton Fire & Rescue Departments were called to the Atlantic City Expressway for an over turned vehicle with entrapment about 7:00am on Wednesday July 28, 2010 . The fire company landed a helicopter at the ball field at the expressway ramp. Winslow Fire Department was also called in to assist with heavy rescue.

The Elwood Fire Company was called to cover Hammonton Fire Company Station #2.

Fire Rescue News - Firefighters containing forest fire in Winslow Township, near Atlantic City Expressway

WINSLOW TWP.-- Fire officials are in Winslow Township, Camden County today, containing a 93-acre forest fire.

The fire is visible from the Atlantic City Expressway, but isn't expected to get any larger and isn't affecting Expressway travel.

Fire crews are containing a separate forest fire less than 40 miles away, at Bass River State Park in Ocean County.

Fire Rescue News - Car Fire Knocked Down Quickly in Rio Shop Rite Parking Lot

RIO GRANDE - A car fire ignited in the Shop Rite parking lot here around noon on Tues. July 27.

Middle Township Police, Rio Grande Fire Company and Middle Township Ambulance service responded to the scene.

The fire was knocked out within 10 minutes of the initial call.

Further information will be posted if it becomes available.
