driving their Mitsubishi car in Hamilton twp, when things took a turn for the worse.
"I seen the flames and it was the most scariest thing ever" says Thompson.
Police say the accident took place around 9 PM Thursday night when Thompson and her 21-year old boyfriend, Walter Harris, turned onto Almond Road in Hamilton Township, lost control of the car that crashed into a tree and then caught on fire.
"I was not supposed to be going as fast as I was" says Thompson.
Hamilton Township Police officer Jeremy Hartman and Sgt. Gregory Ciambrone were the first to arrive on the scene, but to make things worse, the tree then fell onto the hood of the car.
"I was the first to arrive on the fire, 2 people were still inside of the car trying to get out. We were able to get the first subject out and pull them away from the fire" says Sgt. Ciambrone.
With Thompson still in the burning car, good Samaritan Carmine D'Alessandro pulled up to the scene and immediately ran towards the fire.
"I just real quick pulled over, jumped out of the car and went over there and tried to help the best I could" says Carmine D'Alessandro, good Samaritan.
"We get paid to do this , Mr D'Alessandro was a good Samaritan, he had no reason to help out except he wanted to do the right thing" says Sgt. Ciambrone.
D'Alessandro then rescued the 18-year old Thompson through the passenger side door.
"I don't consider myself a hero...I just feel like if you care then you act accordingly" says D'Alessandro.
"If it wasn't for Carmine I don't know about the second person getting out of that car" says Sgt. Ciambrone.
The two victims remain hospitalized and are recovering from broken bones and other injuries. Officials say speed was likely the cause of the crash, but the accident remains under investigation.
