EGG HARBOR CITY -- One person was sent to the hospital and at least 19 residents were displaced from their homes after a fire Tuesday morning at the Harbor City Apartment Complex.
Smoke filled the sky Tuesday morning as flames tore through building J of the Harbor City Apartment Complex around 1:45.
"I can't even believe it, I'm still in shock," said Annette Guzman, a resident of apartment J-2 located.

get her family out of her home safely, but the fire completely destroyed her apartment.
"I lost everything, everything that meant something to me," she said. "Our memories are gone, we have nothing there no more."
Firefighters were able to put out the blaze in 3 and a half hours, but Carmen Carrasquillo was left wondering if her granddaughter made it out of the burning building.
"At first I didn't see her and I was worried, you know where was she, I was trying to get over there but I'm handicapped and they wouldn't let me go over there," said Carrasquillo. "They got her out, but she lost everything."
Four of the seven apartments in building J were completely destroyed. The tenant in apartment J-1 was taken to the hospital to be treated for respiratory and anxiety issues. At least 19 residents were left without a place to call home.
"We don't got nowhere to go, we got nowhere to stay, its hard," said Guzman.
The American Red Cross arrived on scene shortly after the blaze to provide those displaced tenants, like Guzman, with temporary housing.
The fire started in apartment J-1 and appears to be a result of careless cooking by the tenant according to police.
