BRIGANTINE - An out-of-control Buick plowed through a brick and concrete wall into a post office lobby Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Several people were in the lobby at the time of the crash, about 2:05 p.m., but no injuries were reported.
City resident Thomas Cain, 88, told police his foot had slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator of his 2001 Regal as he pulled into a parking space.
Cain refused medical treatment. Police cited him for careless driving and are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
The U.S. Postal Service will enlist someone to inspect the Harbour Beach Boulevard building's structural damage, Lt. Jim Bennett said.
The crash happened exactly two months after a pickup truck toppled a traffic-light pole and crashed through the front of the 7-Eleven on Brigantine Boulevard.
The driver in that incident, a Pennsylvania man, was charged with driving while intoxicated. Again, no one was injured.
