EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP ‑ A small fire broke out this afternoon at the William J. Hughes Federal Aviation Administration's Technical Center, according to an FAA official.

The fire started at 12:10 p.m. in a fourth-floor transformer room inside the tech center's main office building, which houses administrative offices, some computer labs, a cafeteria and credit union, according to Holly Baker, an FAA spokeswoman. No one was hurt and the building was evacuated. The workers were allowed to go home or stay inside an adjoining office building until the fire scene was all clear, Baker said.

The fire is being handled by firefighters from the Atlantic City International Airport, the 177th New Jersey Air National Guard, and the Cardiff, Farmington and Cologne volunteer fire companies.
