Local News - Congregation builds new church after a century in Mullica Township

MULLICA TOWNSHIP — Evelyn Ricci has lived along Pleasant Mills Road in the Weekstown section of the township for all of her 88 years.

As a child, there was no electricity at her family’s dairy farm, and she delivered milk in the mornings before class in the one-room schoolhouse across the street.

Local News - Washington, Mullica Twp schools consider sending agreement

The Washington Township Committee has asked the state to close its school district's only school, while the Mullica Township School District is developing plans to teach the small Burlington County community's children.

The state Department of Education received a letter Wednesday from the committee asking Acting Comissioner Christopher Cerf to close the Green Bank Elementary School and send its students to neighboring Mullica.

Local News - Fundraiser race, dinner benefit Mullica Township teen with brain tumor

A 5K race and fundraiser dinner will be held Sunday to benefit a Mullica Township eighth-grader undergoing treatment for a malignant brain tumor.

Gianna De Rosa, 13, underwent surgery and is receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Gianna’s Gingle Bell 5K Run and Walk will be held at the township middle school to raise money for the family. Registration for the event begins at 11 a.m. The race starts at noon at the school on Elwood Road.
