Fire Rescue News - West Cape May refuses to increase fire budget

WEST CAPE MAY - Nothing was ablaze, but that didn't stop Fire Chief Chuck McPherson from bringing a full set of firefighter turnout gear to Wednesday night's municipal budget adoption as he made a case for more money.

McPherson was trying to make a point as he held up fire boots, $165; pants, $729; coat, $750; gloves, $50; portable radio, $675; fire retardant hood, $65; helmet, $204; special heat-resistant flashlight; $140; and air pack, almost $8,000.
