Police Sarch Hammonton House for Drugs, Weapons

AC Press
HAMMONTON - State, federal and local law enforcement officials have been searching a North Washington Street residence where roughly 200 marijuana plants, illegal weapons and illegal chemicals have already been confiscated, authorities said.

At about 10 a.m. the Hammonton Police Department went to the 300 block of North Washington Street to perform a "knock and talk," according to police Chief Frank Ingemi, who said a subject there allowed authorities to search the property.
"The search revealed 200 marijuana plants, illegal weaponry and some chemicals that are illegal to possess," Ingemi said.
As of 5 p.m. the suspect, who was not named, was being questioned at police headquarters but had not been charged, Ingemi said.

Authorities including Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, the State Police bomb squad, Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office officers, the Hammonton Police Department and the state Department of Environmental Protection representatives were still on scene at that time, Ingemi said.

HAMMONTON — A robber took almost $12,000 from the TD Bank on the White Horse Pike Sunday afternoon, police Det. John Panarello said.

“I have a gun,” read the suspect’s note to a teller, Panarello said. “Don’t panic and no one will get hurt. Give me all the 100s, 50s and 20s in your drawer.”

The suspect never showed a weapon. After the teller gave him the money, he left the bank and drove off in a gray or silver pickup truck, Panarello said.

Police provided a detailed description: White, about 5-foot-7 and a stocky 150 to 200 pounds, in his late 20s or early 30s, blond with green eyes and scruffy facial hair, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, jeans and work boots.

Anyone who can identify the suspect should call Panarello at 609-561-4000, extension 233. The robbery came three weeks after the Bank of America on Bellevue Avenue was victimized, allegedly by a serial bank robber who is now in custody.

MULLICA TOWNSHIP - The Township Committee quietly introduced a $5.5 million budget Tuesday night that will raise municipal tax bills almost 2 percent.

The $5,509,005 budget represents a $176,025 increase over the 2008 budget and calls for an $84,390.94 hike in the tax levy, from $2,994,022 to $3,078,412.94.

The tax rate per $100 of assessed value will also climb 2 cents to $1.057. For a home assessed at $200,000, this will mean an annual increase of $40.

The committee discussed issues ranging from land sales to "public assembly" permits at length during the meeting. But when it came time to introduce the budget, the committee did not mention any of the pertinent figures, and a 3-2 vote on its introduction was not explained....Continue Reading
