MULLICA TWP.--A group of animal lovers in Atlantic County has started a non-profit horse haven. Members of the South Jersey All Breeds Horse Rescue say they will try to save as many horses as possible from certain death.

The state Department of Agriculture announced Thursday that the only place in the entire state that will qualify for its Aerial Gypsy Moth Suppression Program this year is a 99-acre property in Mullica Township.

But officials there have no interest in taking part in the program. MULLICA TOWNSHIP - A dangerous tire dump off Columbia Road will soon be cleaned up thanks to liens recovered from another infamous tire dump.

In December 2008, the township acquired a massive, tire-ridden property on Columbia Road - between Elwood and Nesco roads - through tax foreclosure.
