A small fire was reported in the retail store Hollister at Hamilton Mall Thursday morning, said Hamilton Township Police.

It was first reported at about 6:15 a.m., and was extinguished quickly various responding departments. About one dozen firetrucks were on scene.

The fire started near the cash register, according Cologne Volunteer Fire Company Chief Shawn Vallauri.

"The employee tried to put it out," he said. "She knocked it down. They called us. It flared back up. We got here. We knocked it back down."

Heavy smoke was reported throughout the building, but the smoke did not cause damage. Responding fire companies helped to ventilate the building. Hollister suffered a small amount of water damage.

The cashier, who was the only person inside of the Hollister at the time of the fire, got out safely. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
