EGG HARBOR TWP. -- A Pleasantville man is dead after police say he lost control of his car Friday morning in front of a car dealership in Egg Harbor Township.

It happened at 1:15 a.m. in front of the Bennett's Chevrolet Dealership on the Black Horse Pike, in the Cardiff section of the township.

Police say that's where a Honda Civic driven by 20-year-old Laurin B. Morillo-Diaz was traveling east on the Black Horse Pike when he lost control of the car. The vehicle overturned, and Morillo-Diaz was thrown from the car then trapped under it when he came to rest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, 19-year-old Homero Vilorio Hidalgo of Atlantic City, was wearing a seat belt and was not seriously injured in the crash.

The incident damaged at least two vehicles on the lot of Bennett Chevrolet.

Traffic was detoured for approximately three hours while the crash was being investigated and cleared. Police were assisted by the Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company. Pleasantville Police units responded to assist with crowd control at the scene of the crash.

This fatal crash is being investigated by Sergeant Albert Maiorano of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, assisted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
