MILLVILLE---As flames rapidly ripped through a Millville home early Wednesday morning, fire crews and police were able to bring 5 residents to safety, including an elderly man, and multiple family pets.
The massive blaze destroyed a twin home on the 900 block of Buck Street around 3:30 Wednesday morning.
According to the fire chief, it's unclear how the fire started, which called for several fire companies to assist the Millville Fire Department.
The Red Cross and close friends are helping the family while they collect items that weren't ruined.
Millville Fire Chief Kurt Hess said, "I just want everybody to know that the fire people, the ambulance, EMT people were awesome, they all were awesome and if it wasn't for god no one would be able to get out."
While the residents and most pets were saved, unfortunately two animals died.
A firefighter was injured battling the blaze as well.
Most of the residents were treated for smoke inhalation but an elderly resident remains in the hospital in stable condition.
