valors were given for rescues and attempted rescues throughout the South Jersey area.
One recipient included Shelly Hall, who removed two small children from a burning Atlantic City building on December 7 of last year. Officials say the awards are always very emotional for community members and emergency personnel alike.
"It's just tremendous to come out and honor these firefighters and civilians that have risked their life and put themselves in harms way for their fellow mankind," said Skip Portale, President of the Atl. Co. Firefighters' Association.
In addition to the recipients, five members of the Atlantic County Fire Departments were honored for being active for 50 years or more.
