Somers Point Police Capt. Michael Boyd said firefighters responded to Bucknell Road to combat a kitchen fire at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

After controlling the blaze, firefighters were attempting to clear smoke from the home when they found the marijuana in the home.

Boyd said firefighters alerted police about the marijuana and Giampapa was subsequently charged. As a result of searching the home, a total of three pounds of marijuana was found, Boyd said.
