A Galloway Township home was destroyed by fire Saturday. Officials blamed the fire on the day's heavy winds.

9:02 a.m. in an uninhabted home on the 300 block of East Upland Avenue.

Garbutt said the wind caused tree limbs to spark an electrical fire. The fire engulfed the home, one of two on the property.

The building housed "a lot of stuff," Garbutt said, adding the home was worth $60,000 to $80,000.

Firefighters from the Bayview, Oceanville and Pomona volunteer fire companies and the Absecon Fire Department helped put out the blaze, with companies from Port Republic and South Egg Harbor providing support. Firefighters spent 2½ hours at the scene.
