VINELAND - City police continue to investigate a Wednesday crash that killed a longtime local firefighter.

parked tractor trailer just east of South Main Road, police said.

Chinnici died at the scene as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash, they said. The nature of those injuries wasn't available.

There was no one in the tractor trailer, police said. The tractor trailer is owned by Asphalt Paving Corp. in Malaga, they said.

No further information was available about the crash.

The crash is under investigation by Officer Joseph Montana of the Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit.

Chinnici was a firefighter here for about 18 years, and retired in 2008, city officials said.
