According to Holly Baker, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, a Diamond DA42 airplane was flying over Atlantic City in route to Wilmington, DE at around 1:13 p.m., when its pilot reported the small plane's engine fire warning indicator light was turned on.

"The pilot was diverted to Atlantic City (International Airport) and landed on runway 13 where no fire was observed, but there were signs there could have been one," Baker said.

The pilot was able to taxi his plane, unaided, to the airport's Mid-Atlantic ramp, Baker said.

The pilot's name was not released, but the plane was registered to the Massachusetts-based Twinstar Education Partners, LLC and is listed as a fixed-wing, multi-engine aircraft that was manufactured in 2006.

The FAA will be investigating the incident, Baker said.
