EGG HARBOR TWP.--It may have taken more than a decade, but there's a new emergency traffic signal on the Black Horse Pike.
The signal sits in front of the Cardiff Volunteer Fire Station in Egg Harbor Township and allows the fire trucks to safely exit the station when responding to emergencies.
Officials say they've been working for 14 years to get the light, which they feel is necessary to keep everyone safe, “It gets us out of the firehouse, gets us able to respond to the calls without being delayed out here on the highway and absolutely, its about safety first, for my firefighters and the motoring public, with the fire trucks sitting across the black horse pike because we couldn't get outta here,” said Chief Bill Danz.
The light will constantly flash yellow, to advise drivers that it's there, and will be solid yellow or red when activated by the department for a call.
